The Hard Seasons

If you follow me on instagram, you may have have noticed my
little breakdown I posted a couple days ago.

First, I want to cover my intentions in posting a picture like that.

That specific day was at the tail end of a really, really hard week.
I re-injured my back (for those who don't know I have chronic back pain and flare-ups due to scoliosis and multiple injuries), I had a whole host of things not go the way I wanted, and I had been running on little sleep.

I was really excited for that day.
And it ended up being extremely disappointing.

I cried.

I went to bed early, hopeful that a new day would bring better moods and sanity.

Well, that day came.
And it sucked.

And then the next day came... also not great.

I was questioning my choices, second guessing if I was a good mother.
Luckily, my husband is my rock.

He encouraged me and reminded me that a few bad days don't make me a bad mom.

"It's a hard season," he said.

As cliche as it sounds, life really is a rollercoaster. There are ups, there are downs, twists, and turns.
We've seen our fair share of them all. Luckily the ups outweigh all else.

We are in one of the downs. Maybe a little twist.
Possibly a turn.

One of my favorite quotes goes like this...

"So often, children are punished for being human. They are not allowed to have grumpy moods, bad days, disrespectful tones, or bad attitudes. Yet, we adults have them all the time. None of us are perfect. We must stop holding our children to a higher standard of perfection than we can attain ourselves"

The human characteristics of my children are of no reflection on me as their mother.
Each one of them are these amazingly different people; their own interests, their likes, their temperaments, their attitudes.

That being said, it does little to assuage the feelings in the moment.

I, myself, was feeling very alone.
I posted about it and a whole host of amazing moms came through and showered me with love.

That's what community is to me. Pulling through in the hard seasons, showing up when there is pain, and being open and honest about the amazingness of motherhood.

Thank you to all of you who commented and sent me good vibes. It means so much to me.

Until next time babes.
