Frequently Asked Questions

Here's a post with our most frequently asked questions about our family!

1. Did you always know you wanted six kids?

Nope! When I got pregnant at 16, I had no idea how many kids we were going to have. I did know that I wanted them to be close in age.

2. Did you come from a big family?

No again! I have zero extended family, or at least none that cared to be involved in my life, so it was just me, my two brothers, and my parents. I always wanted a big family, I got jealous of friends who would go on trips with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins. So I decided to make my kids a BIG family so they would always have someone to love on them.

3. How is the co-parenting aspect?

I'm not going to lie, it has been very, very difficult. But we are currently at a place of mutual respect and understanding so it's been going very well. I am thrilled that everything is going smoothly, it ultimately makes it easier on the kids, and that is what's most important.

4. When did you get pregnant the first time? How old are you?

This should really be number one, haha. I got pregnant with Brody when I was 16.
I am currently 28.

5. How does your house stay clean with so many kids?

It doesn't. What you see in pictures is not what the entire house looks like all the time. Right at this moment, my house is crazy mess. Seriously. There's a tortilla on the floor next to me for no apparent reason and I would be shocked if you didn't trip while walking up the stairs covered in toys and clothes.

6. How do you handle having so many kids? I'm going crazy with just one/two/three/etc...

Oh man, I don't handle it all the time.
As you can see from my instagram and here on the blog, I lose it sometimes! And sometimes its not great for awhiiiile and all I want to do is bail and head somewhere tropical.

But, most of the time, they are amazing. Every second of every day isn't amazing. The reward of getting to raise six awesome kids is the best thing that ever happened to me.

7. What kind of car do you drive?

A suburban.

8. How do you fit enough car seats in there?

We use the Diono Radian RXTs for 5 out of 6 kids. They are the slimmest (and one of the safest) car seats on the market. Three of them fit in the back row, and two in the middle, with Brody not needing a car seat due to his size.

9. How many rooms does your house have?

Four. Actually technically three and a large bonus room.
We have a triple bunk bed in the bonus room where Romy, Wyatt, and Zach sleep.
Brody and Lincoln share a room.
Maddie has her own room.
And Ryan and I have the master.

10. What does a usual day look for you?

I wake up between 5:30 and 6. I need some time without the kids to eat and get ready. When I don't wake up on time, I can tell it really effects my mood.
I wake the kids up at 6:45.
I either make them eggs or they grab a breakfast burrito from the freezer.
Get them all ready and leave for school at 8:30.
After I drop them off, the two littles and I go to the gym.
Then I run errands, have playdates, or head home to clean up.
We have lunch and then I put Lincoln to bed for a nap.
While he's sleeping, I set Roman up with a game, a movie, coloring, etc, and I edit.
At 4:15 I leave to pick up the kids from the bus stop.
We come home and all hell breaks loose while the big kids down snacks and go a little insane.
Then we run to sports and music lessons. Get home for dinner around 6 or so.
Eat, do chores, do homework.
Free time, bath time, then story time.
The younger four go to bed at 8, and Brody and Zach go to bed at 9.

This doesn't include the numerous appointments we have during the week: speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, etc etc.

After everyone is settled, I either clean, edit, write, or just mindlessly peruse the internet.
