A Few Fun Facts
1. Wyatt's latest request is that when you tell him you love him, you say "I love you, Wyatt" as opposed to simply "I love you."
2. He has started crying at bedtime, but only for as long as it takes him to get up the stairs. Once he's in bed - he stops completely. What a faker.
3. He is an excellent sharer. Well, today he was.
Mr. Wyatt is full of surprises! He has been being monitored for speech and cognitive delay at school - he's fairly behind the average. And of course, we want to help the silly guy out wherever we can.
I had his parent - teacher conference on November 20. They filled me in on their progress, and let me know that they're having trouble getting him to be still (he's 3), he ALWAYS wants to be the center of attention (he's THREE), and having issues with personal space (he's Wyatt).
Anyhow, they wanted to know some of my Mom Secrets in getting him to be still. Are you ready for it? It might shock you...
Give. Him. A. Toy.
Just give the kiddo something to do with his hands - latches, zippers, blocks, cars, whatever - and he will sit still through anything. He's incredibly mechanically inclined and always needs his hands busy.
I also had a little talk with him when I got home about staying still during circle time, raising hands for questions, and picking up toys. I just figured, he's three, this is going in one ear and out the other...
Fast forward to Monday of this week. I get a call from his teacher after school saying she was so impressed with Wyatt's behavior at school. He was still, silent, respectful of space, and transitioned very well.
So proud over here! Something I said must have sunk in. Or it was a fluke. But I'm going with option 1.
Love that little guy :)
Here's a pic of me and Bubs from many moons ago (aka Fall of 2009, I think)
Awwwwwww. He's so wittle!
