Wyatt Wednesday

Oh, Wyatt. You make me laugh, little man.

A Few Fun Facts
1. Wyatt's latest request is that when you tell him you love him, you say "I love you, Wyatt" as opposed to simply "I love you."
2. He has started crying at bedtime, but only for as long as it takes him to get up the stairs. Once he's in bed - he stops completely. What a faker.
3. He is an excellent sharer. Well, today he was.

Mr. Wyatt is full of surprises! He has been being monitored for speech and cognitive delay at school - he's fairly behind the average. And of course, we want to help the silly guy out wherever we can.

I had his parent - teacher conference on November 20. They filled me in on their progress, and let me know that they're having trouble getting him to be still (he's 3), he ALWAYS wants to be the center of attention (he's THREE), and having issues with personal space (he's Wyatt).

Anyhow, they wanted to know some of my Mom Secrets in getting him to be still. Are you ready for it? It might shock you...

Give. Him. A. Toy.

Just give the kiddo something to do with his hands - latches, zippers, blocks, cars, whatever - and he will sit still through anything. He's incredibly mechanically inclined and always needs his hands busy.

I also had a little talk with him when I got home about staying still during circle time, raising hands for questions, and picking up toys. I just figured, he's three, this is going in one ear and out the other...

Fast forward to Monday of this week. I get a call from his teacher after school saying she was so impressed with Wyatt's behavior at school. He was still, silent, respectful of space, and transitioned very well.

So proud over here! Something I said must have sunk in. Or it was a fluke. But I'm going with option 1.

Love that little guy :)

Here's a pic of me and Bubs from many moons ago (aka Fall of 2009, I think)

Awwwwwww. He's so wittle!

Best Sugar Cookie and Frosting Recipe EVER

Got this recipe from my Mama. She rules.

Sugar Cookies

2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp milk
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Cream together first three ingredients. Beat and add egg. Stir in milk. Sift together dry ingredients, then add. Chill 1 hour before cutting into shapes.

Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes.

Decorate. Devour.

Frosting

1 cup Crisco
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
4 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
3-4 tbsp milk

Combine all ingredients. Add various food colorings. Decorate.

Now I usually triple or quadruple the recipe to have LOTS of extra :)

Basketball With The Big Boys

The boys love LOVE basketball (thanks Uncle Brandon) so we take them to the YMCA to play a little one-on-one.

It usually ends with Brody and Zach getting too competitive and Zach just asking to play at the Y's daycare. Then Brody shoots hoops for the rest of the time. lol. But they have fun.

Here's my guys:

Maddie Monday

Oh man, we've been busy.
Hopefully this week is semi-calmer..

Maddison Monday

Maddison has been a royal DIVA lately. Demanding her brothers (and us) do everything for her. Today she threw an almighty fit because she wanted to wear different shoes. Goodness gracious!

Buuut...
She's also been saying "I sorry" in the cutest possible little voice ever, giving lots of snuggles, and saying "I love you" much more willingly.

The other day she tried to kidnap a baby.
So I'm picking the kids up from the daycare at the gym when I was done working out the other day...

Maddie's running towards me when all of the sudden she stops, turns around, and goes over to a little baby (probably around 6 months).

She then proceeds to pick up the baby and heads for the door again.

Obviously the workers caught her, but as they were taking the baby away she screams "MY BABY! MY BABY!!!!"

The girl cracks me up!

Here she is in Target the other day. This is the way she likes to sit in baskets...
....because everything has to be "her way."

And this is Maddie the Angry Bird. Notice Brody attempting to claim the spotlight lol.

Slacking...

Yes, I've been slacking. All the kiddos were sick, as well as Ryan and I. It was a rough week!

So I have gotten practically nothing accomplished. Winning!
